1. What is Dutch-in-the-USA community?
This website allows you to create your own online community. Members can create profiles, post updates, join groups, chat, and interact—similar to a private social media platform. And there is more coming!
2. How do I create an account?
Simply click the Register button on the website and fill in your details. Once submitted, you may need to verify your email before accessing your account.
3. I didn’t receive a verification email. What should I do?
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Make sure your email address is correct
- If it still doesn’t arrive, contact the site administrator (Dutch)
4. How do I edit my profile?
- Go to your profile page
- Click Edit Profile
- Update your information and save changes
5. How do I upload or change my profile picture?
- Visit your profile
- Click on your current avatar
- Upload a new image and save
6. How do posts work?
You can share updates, photos, and links directly from your profile or the main activity feed. Your posts will be visible depending on your privacy settings.
7. Can I control who sees my posts?
Yes! Each post can have its own privacy setting:
- Public
- Site Members
- Friends Only
- Only Me
8. How do I send messages to other users?
Use the Chat or Messages feature:
- Click the chat icon
- Select a user
- Start typing
9. How do I add friends?
- Visit a user’s profile
- Click Add Friend
- Once accepted, you’ll be connected
10. What are groups and how do I join them?
Groups are community spaces focused on specific topics or interests.
- Browse available groups
- Click Join Group
- Some groups may require approval
11. I can’t see someone’s profile. Why?
Possible reasons:
- Their profile is private
- You are not friends
- You may have been blocked
12. How do I report inappropriate content?
- Click the three dots (…) on a post or profile
- Select Report
- Provide details for the admin team
13. How do I block another user?
- Go to their profile
- Click the options menu (…)
- Select Block User
14. I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
- Click Forgot Password on the login page
- Enter your email
- Follow the instructions sent to your inbox
15. Why am I experiencing issues (blank pages, errors, etc.)?
Try the following:
- Refresh the page
- Clear your browser cache
- Disable browser extensions
- Try another browser
- Contact support if the issue persists
16. Can I delete my account?
Yes, depending on site settings:
- Go to your account settings
- Look for Delete Account
- Follow the confirmation steps
