This Youtube channel is about the Dutch origins of The United States - how a small trade post and colony have influenced the USA to this day. The United States has often-repeated origin stories about religious freedom and destiny, the actual reality is far more chaotic, random, and interesting. Part of America found its origin in the free and open city of Amsterdam of the 17th century, at that time the freest and most open city of the world. New Netherland Now tells the story of the Dutch colony, and tries to incorporate more alternative perspectives on the early history of the United States.
